I honestly Wish there was more STARS!!! I cannot recommended Dr.Schmitz ENOUGH!!! After a little over a year of pain, and several procedures and pain pills from other Dr.’s, I was referred to Dr. Schmitz. He sat and listened to me, took his time with me and actually listened to me! He looked at me and said it’s time for surgery so I could have my quality of life back! At age 49, I had a very low quality of life! He answered all of my questions for surgery and made me feel comfortable! The first two weeks were very difficult but each week got better. 6 weeks out I was I walking 3 miles a day! I felt Amazing! I am now 8 months out and my only regret was not finding him sooner! I feel absolutely amazing and so blessed! Thank you to Dr. Schmitz and his team for taking such great care of me! If you are on the fence, don’t be! If he suggests it just listen to him! He knows what he is doing!!!

I had a spinal surgery in my neck just yesterday. Dr. Schmitz, since initial consult, has been great to me. I feel he cared about my case, but also myself as a person. Dr. Trevor Schmitz and his PA Robey Orewiler restored my quality of life. I had all of my medical records transferred to them, and they took one look at my x-ray and gave me a diagnosis right then and there. After 3 years of chronic back pain, and seeking various treatments, I FINALLY knew what was wrong with my back. Hallelujah! I had an L5/S1 fusion and nerve decompression surgery on June 2nd. Dr Schmitz is like a breath of fresh air. He performed a spinal surgery (laminectomy) for my husband. During the many visit prior to surgery, he was an excellent communicator with a direct, yet personable delivery of medical information. This simple gesture provided my husband with a sense of calm and complete trust in Dr Schmitz’s abilities. I have been living with a degenerated disc for 20 plus years and was told no hope for it getting better. I finally made an appointment with Dr. Schmitz and was told he can take care of this pain for I can live a a better active life again. I was told to get second opinions but I chose not to for I had good vibes with with everyone in the office and Dr. Trevor Schmidtz and his assistant Robey’s mannerisms is very easy going and professional and I couldnt be happier with choosing Dr. Schmitz and would do so again.

Dr. Schmitz is an amazing surgeon. After 2 prior neck surgeries by another surgeon my neck and back pain returned making my life unbearable. Dr. Schmitz did my last surgery about 2 mo. ago. Since this my back is amazing and my neck is still healing, yet 50% of my pain is gone. I was not sure I made the right choice about him feeling that his bedside manner sucked, but I found that if you push him to communicate that’s not so bad either. Again I highly recommend him.

I am a military veteran of 29 years. I hurt my back in 1993 on active duty and have struggled with pain all of these years. It got worse the last 2 years and was struggling with pain down my right leg. Mid April 2019 I was trying to stretch and something popped, I was having extreme pain with spasms that about made me crazy. The VA does not have a back surgeon so they transferred me to Mercy and put me in contact with Dr Schmitz. He was professional yet had a good bedside manner. He explained what needed to be done. Coming to after surgery I new that it was a success! No leg pain at all. A bit of a recovery (10# weight limit, no bending or twisting for 10 weeks). I took light pain meds for 2 days and was walking over 2 miles a day by day 3. Great guy, skilled surgeon!

Nothing but great things to say about Dr Schmitz. Performed surgery on my back and had immediate relief of pain. He was equally as happy for me. He will be operating on my neck in the upcoming months and I have the utmost confidence that it will have the same result.

Great job. I had a very complicated case and was slowly finding myself in a wheelchair. Within 2 weeks after surgery I was using a walker and 6 weeks later I was walking on my own. Took time with me to make sure all my questions were answered and I was comfortable throughout. Highly recommend.

My Husband Leonard was in bad shape Dr.Schmitz was amazing. He is very professional he knows exactly what to do and how to fix it. He gives us the time we need.Talks to not just Leonard but includes me with everything. When we came in my husband could hardly walk second day after surgery it was amazing. I traveled from a significant distance on the advice of a family member. Cannot recommend enough. He truly gets involved in his patients lives. Took time to explain everything. I just ran a 5K 5 months after surgery even though when I came in I pretty much needed a wheelchair. I had heard good things but he lived up them and more!

Wonderful doctor. Saw me in the emergency department and was extremely patient and answered all of my questions. Went out of his way to get me a glass of water when he said I could eat because I wasn’t going to have surgery. Did a great job reducing my wrist broken bone and I didn’t even feel a thing after he numbed me up.
