Dr. Vinyard

Dr. Timothy Vinyard is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, specializing in sports medicine. He is originally from Ottumwa, Iowa, and has been practicing since 2012. Dr. Vinyard is a graduate of Coe College, where he competed in both football and baseball.

Dr. Vinyard’s practice focuses on the non-operative and surgical treatment of professional, amateur, and recreational athletes of all ages, sports, and activities. He subspecializes in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery.

Throughout his medical training, Dr. Vinyard provided orthopedic coverage for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Minnesota Twins. Dr. Vinyard is the former head team physician for the Iowa Wild and the West Des Moines Valley Tigers. He also provided medical coverage for the Iowa Cubs and Drake University Bulldogs. He is currently the head team physician for Waukee Northwest. Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Vinyard takes pride in his community involvement, having served as a board member for the House of Mercy and contributing his time to volunteer for the Blue Lips Foundation. Dr. Vinyard currently serves on the board of the Northwest Youth Football League.

Dr. Vinyard and his wife, Erica, have three children. In his free time, Dr. Vinyard enjoys time with his family, coaching his children, golfing, exercising, playing tennis, and attending sporting events.

In 2023, the residents of Des Moines voted Dr. Vinyard the recipient of the “Best Orthopedic Surgeon” title in the Des Moines’ People’s Choice awards.
