Dr. Paulson

Dr. Benjamin Paulson is a board-certified hand surgeon specializing in the treatment of hand and upper extremity disorders. He grew up in Ogden, Iowa, and has been part of the Iowa Ortho team since 2010.

Dr. Paulson graduated as valedictorian from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in physics. His interest in mechanics, precision, and anatomy led him to pursue a career in orthopedic surgery. He is particularly drawn to the complexity of hand and upper extremity care and is one of the few specialists trained to administer Xiaflex injections, a non-surgical treatment for Dupuytren’s contracture.

He takes a function-focused, personalized approach to care—offering both surgical and non-surgical treatment options such as injections, bracing, and therapy. His goal is not just to treat the condition but to help patients return to the activities that matter most in their lives.

Outside of work, Dr. Paulson enjoys traveling with his family and has visited all 50 U.S. states and over 60 countries. He also enjoys hiking, running, and biking.
